Hear What Clients Say About Their Personal Training Experience

I began with Nitty Gritty after a long time of wanting to make improvements but spinning my wheels. My hope that I could actually change was low but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. After just a few sessions I began to feel better about myself, and shortly after that I started to notice changes in how I looked and felt. Brandon has made the difficult work manageable and been encouraging and supportive during it. Believing that he truly wants me to succeed is a big part of why I keep on pushing to more fully reach my goals.

I started my training with Brandon about 4 1/2 months ago and until that point I practically knew nothing about weightlifting and fitness. I had tried some training in the past but it was never something that I stuck to. I used to be very unhealthy, I would rarely get any exercise and I ate very poorly. It seemed like way too much work to get up everyday and go to the gym or to take the time to cook good meals, so I just didn't do it. After spending most of the summer in quarantine doing nothing I wanted to make a change but I was still hesitant. I was afraid that I wouldn't stick with it or that it would be too hard, but Brandon convinced to me train with him and I decided to give it a shot and it was the best decision I could've made. It was really hard to get into a routine at first and I was way too self conscious to go to a gym so I did my workouts in their garage. At first my form was terrible and I often didn't want to go to my workouts, but it didn't take long until they became something that I really looked forward too. Weightlifting has completely changed my life. I am stronger, more energized, my mood has improved and I continue to notice changes every day. The changes in my strength, mood and energy are addictive and my confidence has improved a ton since I began my training. I can now go to a gym without feeling self conscious or intimidated by everyone else and I feel better than I have in a long time. Investing in my health is the best decision I have ever made and I don't even know how to thank Brandon for getting me started on my journey because it has truly changed my life. I still have a ways to go to reach my goals, but the journey so far has been amazing and I look forward to seeing just how far I can go.

Brandon and I began training together in 2019 with a plan to improve my form on the three main lifts: squats, deadlifts, and bench press. I originally thought that I would work with Brandon for a few classes, improve my form, and move on to continuing on my personal program but I was extremely impressed with his knowledge in strength training, creating a strength building program catered to my goals, and working within my schedule to ensure I saw results. I ended up working with Brandon for over a year and saw an amazing improvement in my physique, how I felt and how much weight I was able to lift. He was able to adjust my training program to work around life events and an injury I sustained playing sports and he inspired me to compete in my first powerlifting competition at the end of the year. Working with Brandon was a lot of fun and he is great at keeping it light while pushing you to achieve your goals. I would highly recommend him to anyone, whether you are experienced or just starting out!

Taking up powerlifting is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself. A year ago, I was overweight, unfit and just diagnosed with diabetes. Now, I am in the best shape of my life and an athlete for the first time ever, at 42.
Brandon taught me everything I know and made a strength training program that worked for me. He pushed me and encouraged me when I did not believe in my own strength. His kindness and support helped me from my first week in the gym all through my first powerlifting meet last October, where I won first place in my class.
I’m stronger now, physically and mentally. It’s fun and empowering to set goals and meet them. I’m proof that it is never too late to start strength training, and that you won’t know how strong you are until you try. I’m excited to see how much farther I can go! Thank you, Brandon for your awesome support!

Brandon is an incredible trainer! I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to better themselves. Brandon is very focused on form and puts a great deal of emphasis on starting your journey properly from day 1. Not only did my lifting technique improve immensely but within weeks I was seeing huge gains in strength and physique. Brandon was very understanding of my busy schedule and would accommodate me however possible which meant a lot to me. He's very good at making you feel comfortable while in the gym and I can confidently say that after my time with Brandon I'm in the best shape of my life! Thank you Brandon!

I had a full right hip replacement in September 2019.  The year leading up to surgery was excruciatingly painful. I did what I could to stay active through the pain. Swimming and cycling a few times a week was all I could manage. Regardless of my efforts, my physical health suffered greatly.  I was in need of a serious coach to get me in shape.  Post surgery I did some basic exercises at a gym for a few months but I desperately needed guidance from a knowledgeable trainer.
Starting in early March of 2020, I teamed up with Brandon to get this journey started.  His approach was well suited for my rehab needs as my mobility and strength were sorely lacking after a year of avoiding any weights due to the pain that it caused my hip.
Long story short, after 6 months, I went from lifting very little, it was embarrassing actually, to being able to deadlift 405 lbs. This experience, having a great trainer, gave me back my strength and mobility, things I thought were not coming back, as well as a ton of confidence.
A video was taken of me doing that lift and I showed my surgeon at my 1 year post op appointment.  He was blown away and said he wanted a copy to put up on his website for patient success stories

In January 2019 , I decided to join the gym to get strong and lose weight. Brandon did an assessment of me and I decided to get him to train me. This was the best decision I made. Brandon asked if I wanted to try strength training and I gave it a shot. I am so glad I did. He had been an excellent trainer and I couldn't have done it without him. He has taught me how to properly do my lifts and proper stances to get the most out of my workouts. I will continue to train with Brandon for the next couple of years.

I have been working out off and on for quite a few years now and never really had any instruction. I saw an advertisement that said I could get some personal training on the squat, bench press, and deadlift. I signed up and had Brandon work on my form and it made a world of difference. He was very knowledgeable and helped me drastically increase my weight lifted with some form tweaks and lifting techniques. I recommend his training if you want to improve your 3 main lifts and avoid injury by learning the proper way to do them.

As someone who just wanted to start getting in shape and  had no real knowledge on lifting Brandon was great at integrating his knowledge into my workouts getting higher yield results. He is more than willing to accommodate to what your body feels but constantly encourages you to push through and always give it your all. Brandon has been an amazing trainer for me.

This guy is so great! I had never even walked into a gym before working with Brandon and he made me feel so comfortable no matter how little I knew!!

I cannot indorse him enough!!!

After a few years away from strength training Brandon was great at helping me realize my goals. He was excellent at goal planning along with helping with my form for lifts and assisting with improving my joint mobility. I would recommend Brandon to anyone from beginners to experienced in strength training.

When I first started training with Brandon I was very skeptical. I thought he was too young, very set in his mindset, strongly opinionated, and a bit stubborn. With time, I found that these traits made him a good coach, and that he was more flexible, knowledgeable than I had given him credit for. Bein that he's dating my sister it made it more difficult for me to think about him as a trainer. At the beginning of my training I had a 265 max deadlift, 195lb squat, and a 245lb bench. I had never trained squats or deadlifts until having Brandon as my coach. After 7 months I was able to hit a 465lb deadlift, a 375 lb squat, and a 335 lb bench press. In addition I also put on 43lbs. A fair amount was fat, I got a gut and a "dump truck" of  a rear end. This was due to poor dieting and dirty bulking on my part not Brandons program as he is not a dietitian. It did however make me stronger. His program was easy to follow, had a variety of exercises and methods I had never used before, in addition he was always available and very helpful when it came to any questions or concerns. I have since dropped 15 lbs am much leaner and am working towards a 500 lb bench in the future as well as a 400lb squat and 500lb dl. The bench is a long term goal and with Brandons program I should be able to hit the other 2 within several months. Even though he competes as a powerlifter he made my program based upon my requirements and schedule and has been able to adjust it as required, I plan on working with him for years to come and am planning on becoming a coach myself. Also let it be known I will hit 500lbs on the bench before him.  I recommend anyone looking for a coach to choose Brandon to help them reach their next goal as long as they are committed to the process and are willing to put in the hard work.

Competing in my first powerlifting meet was a goal of mine 4 years ago. However, I dropped the sport altogether after I injured my back while squatting and did not perform any variation of the squat or deadlift for over 3.5 years. I was eventually inspired to fulfill my goal again about 4 months ago but I knew I could not do it without guidance from someone with more knowledge than me. Hiring Brandon as my coach was the single biggest factor for accomplishing my goal and being successful in my first meet in early October. Without his weekly form checks, programming, and words of encouragement I certainly would have been turned off from the sport everytime I “tweaked” my back during training. Brandon instilled a confidence in myself and my form that I will take with me for the rest of my life in training. I'm excited to be back participating in a sport I thoroughly enjoy, knowing that I’ve gained the skills to do it safely and effectively. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Brandon to any of my close friends or family looking for help with their training.

I've been working out for years but about 6 weeks ago Brandon convinced me to let him coach me in powerlifting. No word of a lie, it is positively life changing! I know I am biased as my coach is also my son, but I can't say enough about what a good coach can do for you. It will give you confidence you never dreamed of. You will lift amounts you never believed you could. Lifting is an extremely technical sport. A good coach can provide you with the guidance necessary to succeed. I sometimes think personal trainers (coaches) are highly underestimated but if you find a great coach, their knowledge is indispensable.

I'm only in the very early stages of powerlifting but I can't wait to continue on and see how much I can lift in the future! If I get real courageous I may even compete in a meet in the future.

Thank you Brandon for your constant support, for teaching me how technical your job is, for always pushing me when I didn't believe, and for taking NO excuses. The absolute joy you show when one of your clients lifts more than they thought they could or gets good news from a doctor because you helped change their lives is phenomenal to witness. You are absolutely changing people's lives. I could not be more proud of you. If your "old" Mama can do this, anyone can!

If anyone reading this wants to do something that will make you so proud of yourself, I promise this young man will work his ass off for you. They want you to work hard and succeed!

A little while before I met Brandon, I was always a biology guy. Things quickly changed up as I grew up and I was more into athletic performance than anything else when I was playing sports. There are plenty of athletes outside of the field in the weight room and that got me really interested in building a stronger, healthier body.

I would look online about the things I could do to achieve that and unsurprisingly, gym is one of the best ways to do that. I started to go to a gym every week or so before Covid hit, and I read tons and tons of articles about training and why it is so essential to the human body. Then quickly, I started to do the things every one said to do which was the SBD.

Weeks later Covid made everything shut down. As well as my health and millions of others'. Going to the gym is pretty much impossible at the time and my family decided to move to another environment. I decided to start with gym again but since they weren't opening very much I had to get my own equipment. That's when I met Brandon.

At the time I had no idea what powerlifting was and I wasn't doing much with my equipment at all. I decided to text Brandon to get the most out of the equipment I bought. I told him my health situation as well as my needs to be helped in the gym. I mentioned that I heard the three lifts are essential for the gym in general and he directly put me on a powerlifting program just to see how far I can get with the things I'm interested in at the time.

I didn't know much about programs and the science behind a structured plan to follow through each time I go to the gym, but Brandon cleared up so much confusion that I had at the time and responded to every single one of my many texts fairly quickly.

Beside trying out different programs and plans and ways to train he made sure that when I get my lifts in I filmed the videos as well to spot an inefficiency in technique as soon as possible. I would update him about each and every workout through videos and texts and while I'm doing that, I set and update my short term and long term goals mixed with the things happening in training, lifestyle and events that might effect how I'm doing in the gym. Brandon took everything to a count and it is very much reflected in the program and results.

As I learn more and more things as a lifter from Brandon I became more of a friend than a client, I was rather discussing than being taught, I was coming up with ideas and thoughts about the lifting because of that. Not believing in what's "correct" but the real science behind that and not being afraid to question everything. Even though Brandon and I have things we disagree on, we can always discuss about it while being completely respectful to each other.

With his great capability as a coach I was able to greatly improve my health and crushing my goals once and once again over the time of 9 months and I firmly believe that things are only going to get better as time goes on. I highly recommend Brandon as a coach and I'm grateful to have a him as a coach and a friend.
